CPU Dumplings Workshop is a cooking experience to learn the fundamentals of computation. Participants perform all the operations of a CPU (Central Processing Unit) by learning to chop chives, mince onions, fill and fold dumplings.

Riding on the workshop concepts and infographic developed by Taeyoon Choi, a group of Hong Kong-based artist-educators will further adapt and deliver the workshop in a local context, in which they will perform together with participants to simulate a CPU instruction set. The workshop will cover the topics including the Von Neumann architecture, ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) and CU (Control Unit), memory and storage, serial and parallel processing and bottleneck problem.

With an intention to develop alternative pedagogy, we welcome teaching staffs in Hong Kong to participate and have a foretaste of the “STEAM” learning activity. By incorporating artistic insights and technological knowledge, we hope to guide participants to make connections between concepts and encourage them to experiment a cross-curricular STEAM setting in their workplace. As an organisation committed to bring digital and coding literacy into a wider context, we stress the importance of demonstrating the STEAM practice in all-level education sectors and inspiring new generations of interdisciplinary innovators.


CPU餃子工作坊是一個學習電腦運算基本原理的烹飪體驗。參與者通過學習切碎細香蔥、切碎洋蔥、填餡和折疊餃子來執行 CPU(中央處理單元)的所有操作。


為了推廣另類教學法,我們歡迎教職員工參與 “STEAM” 學習體驗。通過結合藝術元素和技術知識,我們希望引導參與者在概念之間建立聯繫,以及鼓勵他們在教室裡嘗試並實踐STEAM跨課程的設置。作為致力推廣數碼及程式編碼素養的組織,我們認為社會需要迫切在各級教育部門實踐STEAM教學思維,以激勵新一代的跨學科創新者。
